Acrylic Pouring Jewelry: Cabochon with Resin - Love Acrylic Painting

Acrylic Pouring Jewelry: Cabochon with Resin

Acrylic pouring jewelry might seem hard but in reality, it is super easy. You just need to have the right tools and materials and follow the easy steps shown above.

This is another project that involves using a little bit of resin, however, in this tutorial, you will see that the type of resin used in this cabochon does not involve all the sticky mess from regular resin mixing. But you will need to make sure you have some sort of UV light like the options shown below so that your resin can cure. This step is super important! Otherwise you will be left with a tacky surface!

Use whatever acrylic pouring skins you have on hand. Your cabochons will be unique because you might have used different colors and used different acrylic pouring techniques.

You can also use regular resin if you'd like. I love stone coat epoxy from stone coat countertops. It is uv resistant, heat resistant, self-leveling, high gloss and leaves no fumes. But it can seem a little bit pricey since it only comes in half a gallon kit and you only need a tiny bit for your cabochon. Therefore, another option for regular resin is this 8 oz epoxy resin from art resin. It is also uv stabilized, high gloss, self-leveling, with no fumes and non flammable.

Even though no torch was used in this tutorial, you will see that it might be a good idea to use one to avoid some trapped bubbles inside the resin. I recommend this Bernzomatic TS4000 torch that I use for all my resin projects. It has an auto start/stop ignition light and extinguishes the flame with the push of a button, while a run-lock button keeps the torch lit for continuous use. You will also need the standard propane fuel cylinder. If this option is too pricey for you, then I have some other cheaper options shown down below.

To get started, just follow the tutorial in the video above. You can find the materials used in this project down below!

Enjoy this awesome and fun project!
