Finding the Perfect Lamp
So, I found this desktop lamp on Amazon, and it wasn't that expensive. I think it cost me maybe like $67, it might have had a little bit of a discount somewhere in there, but I think it's under $100, maybe even under $80. But don't quote me on the price, okay? Just check out the Micomlam led desk lamp right here to find the current price. But it wasn't that expensive, and I absolutely love how it works.
Compact Design with Clamp Feature
Okay, so let me show you the features of this lamp.
First of all, one of the things that I was looking for in a lamp was that it didn't take up too much space on my working surface because I don't have a lot of room in my art room. So, I needed something that was small enough that wouldn't take up too much space on my actual painting surface.
This led lamp is great because it comes with a clamp, so I can place it wherever I want around my table, wherever I'm going to be working, and I can move it around. I can attach it to the sides of the table—it's just a simple clamp that you attach it with.
Convenient Built-in Light Source
Another great thing about this lamp is that it comes with a light source. Let me show you what I like about this.
You can plug it directly into your outlet on your wall. When I was looking for lamps, I found other ones, but they had just a USB connector. I didn't want to purchase another one of those USB wall chargers or plug it into a computer. So, this was a very good option for me because it I don't need to purchase anything else.
I just have an outlet here, I plug it in, and there you go.
Adjustable Arms for Flexibility
Another thing that I love about this lamp is that it has several arms, so you can move it to several places. It has three joints to fold from.
You can bend it from the joint that is at the very bottom of the lamp if you need the light to reach to a specific area. Just bend it down and stretch out all the other arms.
You can also bend it from the middle join or the joint at the very top. And now you have your light up a little bit higher, and your surface a little bit lower, and the working area gets illuminated really nice and bright.
Versatile Folding Lights
Now, another thing that I absolutely love about this is that it has these two folding lights.
It has two folding lights on the side, and you can straighten them into a complete straight line of light, or you can move them in to shine a little bit more light from one side to the other. So, you can concentrate your light on a smaller area by folding these.
Customizable Brightness and Warmth
You can also adjust the brightness and the warmth of the light. But first, let me show you something I forgot to mention. You can turn off the lights on the sides and leave the middle one turned on, or vice versa. That way you can concentrate the light wherever it is that you need it.
It has individual buttons to turn each light on so it's very easy to use. If you want the middle off, you can turn the middle one off as well, and you can just leave the side lights turned on.
As you can see below, the brightness and the warmth of the lights can also be adjusted to different levels.
Perfect Lighting Solution for Art Studios
My art room is pretty dark—I only have two windows, and even during the day, it's pretty dark because not a lot of sunshine comes through those windows. So, I really need a lot of different sources of light in this room, and this lamp is absolutely amazing to just illuminate my working space, especially at night when there's no light coming in from any source.
Demonstration
Let me show you how it looks when I have this lamp turned on with all of the lights. Depends on how you position the arms of the lamp, the light could shine more on certain areas. But the picture above shows how my desk looks like with all of the lights turned on.
I absolutely love this lamp because it has everything that I needed for my art room. It's long enough to cover my surface area where I do my artwork, and I can adjust the light intensity and the warmth—it has different arms to position it in different ways, and it comes with a light source so I don't have to purchase anything extra to attach it to the wall.
This is my absolute favorite lamp, and I have no regrets about buying it.
Second Best Lamp
Now, let me show you another lamp that I have. This Niulight Desk Lamp is the one that I used to use for my artwork before I had the Micomlam lamp.
This one is still a great lamp, but it doesn't have as many features as the other one. So, let me show you the good and the bad about this one in case you need a lamp that is a little bit cheaper.
But if you have the money to spend on the Micomlam lamp, I highly recommend it over this one. But this one is still a great lamp.
Additional Features and Comparison
The Niulight comes with a clamp, so you can attach it in the same way as the other one. It also comes with a light source that you can plug directly into your outlet. The other thing that I love about this one is that it also comes with different arms, so you can bend it from the top, middle, and from the bottom as well. This one is still great because it expands a great distance, and it has three places to bend from.
The next thing I like about this one is that you can rotate the light, so you can move it more to the side or to the center. You can also change the brightness and the warmth of the light, but this one only has two buttons, so it's a little bit tricky to know which button to press. One is the on and off button, and the other is to increase the brightness. It also has several levels of warmth and brightness, but the other lamp is way brighter and more versatile.
Conclusion and Recommendations
So, that's my comparison of these two lamps. I hope it helps you decide which one is best for your art studio. If you want to learn more about the other pieces I use for my art studio or to record my art videos, check out this post about How to record top down digital videos.
